no no no

no NO what?

NO NO WHAT NOT HIRO WHAT HOW NO NO

WHAT HIRO NO HIRO NO

And that's all I had to say about that. Except that I finished watching the episode while on a London bus. Ahh, I live in the future.

I should probably read some Judith Butler, and beg intellectual forgiveness. I realised this week that I'd been unfairly avoiding reading her because I'd been confusing her with Julie Bindel. Who I had, in turn, been confusing with Julie Burchill, writer of Sugar Rush. What's with all the HQ JB's? For the record: Bindel's the only outspoken transphobe amongst them.

ETA: Oh man, I'm sorry, clearly spnding last night in the pub with a bunch of lesbrarians has affected my ability to communicate effectively. "HQ", the adjective I just used to describe Judith Butler and the Julies Burchill & Bindel, is the Library of Congress classification for sexuality - the family - feminism - queer theory. *librarian-geek-shame*

*smiles @ HQ*

And, if you've not read Sugar Rush, do! The book is much better than the TV show, even if Kim in the show is yum.

On a related note, erm, actually completely unrelated, is Transformation/Trashy/Room 101 occurring this evening, and will we be there?

I... think so? Right now I am in bed with a laptop trying to psych myself up for Doing The Housework. But I've not made any other plans for the day, certainly. I shall prod [livejournal.com profile] ayaron and housemate... in fact I shall make a Livejournal post. Shall we start in the pub at 10pm?

I expect so, it's a bit too far into the "her be wyrmes" area of the Students' Compleat and Soothly Accurate Map of Oxford to fill up.

An implausible number of radical feminists are called Judith.
Perhaps you were thinking of Judith Lorber? http://feed.belowthebelt.org/2007/12/challenging-transsexuality.html

Also, I'm ashamed that I didn't immediately understand "HQ". My first thought was High Queer?!

My colleague [livejournal.com profile] prochytes and I are firmly of the opinion that the Incident In Question was staged. Remember that Hiro can bend space and time; stopping time and nipping out to a theatrical supplies shop is not beyond him. This hypothesis does rather rely on the Other Party Involved thinking on his feet quite remarkably fast and acting well, and on Hiro having managed to talk round the Other Possible Observer, who was expressing some discomfort with the way things were going.

We shall have to see.
