So, who's on the Pope protest tomorrow in London?

Anyone got any ideas for a placard-concise message that conveys "I have no interest in contravening anyone's religious freedom or freedom to travel, and the anti-catholic people in this crowd really squick me, but I don't think that a government-funded state visit is appropriate for someone with this man's human rights record. And, yes, I am aware that the very act of protesting increases the cost of the visit." ?

There's always something Godwin-ish and front-page-worthy like "Heil Herr Ratzinger" though that doesn't really express your views.

I don't actually have anything intelligent to contribute (briefly considered suggesting 'SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS ARE CATHOLIC... AND QUEER', but that isn't really accurate and doesn't really get across your meaning in any case), but just wanted to say that I'm glad you're thinking of

I have no interest in contravening anyone's religious freedom or freedom to travel, and the anti-catholic people in this crowd really squick me,

I am finding the whole thing surprisingly difficult (says she, five hours away from going off to big a Catholic wedding with her Weasley-style family) and I'm quite glad I'm in another country for the duration.

I would endorse this. Although it's interesting that Ratzy's theology is very clear that being queer isn't a sin... just actually having queer sex is, which is far more nuanced than - say - some of those fundamentalist Protestants who will also be in the demo.

....the only thing coming into my head is 'DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING ...careful now.'

But sadly I don't think they watch Father Ted in the Vatican.

It's been done! But we could always do it again if it would make Graham Linehan happy.

I have no suggestions, but feel (a fragment of) your pain as this was much my problem when I went on the Iraq war protest in 2003, and would have needed some very small print to establish my position...
