Lashings of Ginger Beer now have an Edinburgh-preview YouTube presence! Don't I just have the most incredibly hot and talented friends?

(Carlotta stands on a chair in a white dress, looking sweet)
> We were both young when I first saw you
> I close my eyes
> And the flashback starts
> I'm standing there
> On a balcony in summer air
>
> See the girls
> See the guys and the couples,
(Galla approaches through the audience)
> I see you make your way through the crowd
> And say hello, little did I know (Galla bows in a stylised fashion & kisses Galla's hand; they begin to dance)
> That you were Juliet, and no one could be better
> Though my daddy said I wish that you had never met her
> But I felt a little different
> And I think that it was starting to show and I said
>
> Juliet let's go somewhere we can be alone
> I've got you so who needs Romeo
> You'll be a princess, I'll be a princess
> It's a love story baby just say yes

> I sneak out to the garden to see you
> We explore 'cause we don't know what to do
> So close your eyes
> Get lost in me for a little while
> Oh, 'cause you were Juliet, you were my secret treasure
> Even though they said we did those things for some guy's pleasure
> They wouldn't have believed that
> If they could have seen us alone
>
> and I said
> Juliet let's go somewhere we can be alone
> I've got you so who needs Romeo
> You'll be a princess, I'll be a princess
> It's a love story, baby just say yes

>
> Juliet help me,
> They're trying to tell me how to feel
> This love's atypical, but it's real
> Partnership's civil, but only a second best
> It's a love story,
> When can we say yes?

(Instrumental break. Gavotte-style circling, hand-to-hand, hands getting further apart, confused facial expressions shifting to distressed. At the end, Galla runs off, crying.)

> Oh oh
>
> I got tired of waiting
> Wondering if we could ever truly come out
> My faith in love was fading
> And gay marriage bills were getting turned down
> And I said (Galla returns to the stage)
> Juliet help me, it's seeming more and more absurd
> Why do these people think that we'll corrupt their word?
> I just want to love you, why is that a sin?

> She knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
> And said,
(Galla kneels and sings this part too)
> Marry me Juliet
> We'll show them how true love should be
> I love you and we deserve equality

> And one day we'll marry, we won't settle for less,
> It's a love story baby just say yes
(ecstatic dancing)

> Oh, oh, oh, oh

> 'Cause we were both young when I first saw you

Written by Carlotta, choreography by Galla Téa.

We've also had an awesome political deconstruction of our work, complete with press photo gallery, over at The Skinny. I'm a very happy RadFem Burlesquer just now!

Oh, I'd forgotten how lovely that riding crop shot is. Our little *faces*. What an excellent article -- fifty points to you and the other interviewees!

Is there any chance of a transcript/copy of the lyrics? Sadly I'm having trouble parsing it from the audio and I'd really love to follow it.

Transcript posted! I'll add "transcript page" to my to-do list for the website, as well. Thanks for making me remember things like basic accessibility...

Can't watch it atm, but that song nearly made me cry in Oxford! Though I thought you lot wrote it yourself, being insufficiently down with this dreadful modern music :)

(Re the London show - uncertain because that's my birthday and I don't know yet what I'm doing or even what town I'll be in! Best of luck if I'm not around though)

There's something in my eye, that's all.

(It helps that I am a sekrit fan of the original.)
