Fearing an imminent Tory government, I joined a trade union about six months ago (and recommend that you do the same). This afternoon, it was the branch AGM.

I have just added the following to my work email signature:

Equality Officer
UNISON Oxford University & Colleges Branch
www.unisonoxforduniv.org.uk

Because obviously, I don't have enough stuff to do.

So, um, yeah. If you work at Oxford, join UNISON, and I'll represent your equality. Or something.

Congratulations! Trade unionism has, in my experience, been an excellent way to meet like-minded and shiny people.

(And I didn't comment on your entry about RENT, but it got me thinking - about the friend of mine with the incredible voice who was always relegated to bit-parts. Last year she lost a stone, and suddenly she's getting leading roles. It makes me very angry and sad.)
