Those of you who called me on my class privilege when I was waxing rhapsodic about working part-time and Living The Dream - yeah, the joke's on me now. I really, really, don't want to leave this job, but I'm not earning enough money to live on. Today was my last shift and I couldn't even put on a brave face for my colleagues.
Other stuff is going on in the Real World. I wish I had the skills for it.
So it's a bunch of things that hurt, but can't be changed.
The only possible response (according to my strange emotional-state-management strategy) is for me to go and get an impossibly stupid haircut tomorrow morning. Shapewise I'm geting this (only steeper, longer at the front, with the short part shaved completely bald) - I also want a few flashes of bright colour in there, but I'm not sure about placement; any aesthetes in the house want to give their input?
And Lashings is looking magnificent. I'm so excited about the coherent political message and the incredible dancing! Everything is coming together brilliantly, and when I thought I wouldn't be able to make the Dress Rehearsal it was fine to go ahead with me - that means it's really coming of age as a collective. Every single contributor has brought something new, and exciting, and that I could never have done myself.
grignoter's impossibly happy love-song,
deathbyshinies' impossibly depressing striptease,
lilka's fantastically feminist Disney-filk,
darwinian_woman's hysterical stand-up,
annalytica's impossibly insightful song on queer women inhabiting the male gaze... It's really not my baby any more. And that's brilliant!

Date: 2010-02-18 07:28 pm (UTC)I love your emotional-state-management strategies. They are better than mine. (Although I managed to misread that as the *front* part shaved completely bald)
And how awesome is it that we now have *too much* amazing material to do a half-hour set without having to cut something brilliant? I reckon we're not at all far from having a full-length stand-alone show! And a really really good full-length stand-alone show at that!
