Dear Yuletide giver:
I am just so chuffed to have finally got involved with Yuletide that anything you could possibly write will make me super-happy.
But bearing that in mind..
I've requested slash, but I don't necessarily mean that I want smut (although I'm by no means averse!). I'm just obsessed with the interactions between the characters I've selected. You can cast them as entirely heterosexual/asexual, for all I care, as long they interact. I don't generally like cloying fluff, because it tends to seem OOC for the characters I like. I am fond of darkness, and messed-up interpersonal interactions, unhealthy mutual dependency and misunderstandings. (And you can't go wrong with a bit of unrequited obsession.) Then again, if you can make fluff work, go for it! I'd love to see some of these characters happy (Poor Bunny. Poor Avon. They deserve a bit of happiness) - I just can't see any way it could happen, with canon as it is.
As you can probably tell if you've looked at some of the other posts I've made recently, I'm a bit of a Humourless Feminist. So I'm not going to be made too happy by ableism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny.. although obviously you couldn't characterise Raffles/Rimmer/Avon without some of these things! Just - take care, if you're the kind of person who normally uses "retard" or "gay" as an insult. I can also be a bit of a pedant with regards to the original idiom of canon, especially in characters' speech - Raffles and Bunny are both 19th century public-school-boys, while the B7/Red Dwarf crews speak "future" British English which bears a striking resemblance to the idiom of the 1980s.
If you're writing me B7 that's not about Blake/Avon interaction, then just bear in mind that I grew up reading One Too Many Dystopian Novels, and that I just adore the wider setting. So anything nasty and dark and political will make me happy; but then again, so will a piece of fluff set in a Logan's Run / Barbarella-style decadent pleasure city. I'm quite easy to please with B7 - I'm new to the fandom (having seen the whole show in a four-month marathon, 6 months ago) and am still very excited by it all!
And if you're writing Rimmer/Ace Rimmer: congratulations! You're as twisted as me. Oh, Rimmer.
To conclude: I am so excited about Yuletide this year. All of my requests are for fandoms I adore, but for which I've read next-to-no fic. So please write something that you will enjoy writing, and I'm sure that I will enjoy it too!
