[livejournal.com profile] pridehouse all cleaned-up and moved-out-of. [livejournal.com profile] the_mousehole tenancy doesn't begin for a few weeks. I'm now in parental suburbia, dog-sitting for ten days or so. While I'm aware that I could happily spend this time googling "Kerr Avon", I feel that this might cause me to go slightly odd1. Anyone in London & want to hang out? I think I need to go and see The Dark Knight at some point, and I have an adorable (if rapidly ageing) King Charles Spaniel who needs lots of walks and cuddles.

1 I may, in fact, have already gone odd from too much googling of "Kerr Avon".

I.. really haven't got any excuse for this. At all. The dodgy photoshop, the spurious bondage, I'm hyper-aware of the flaws. And I made it my desktop background anyway. Because I am an irredeemably horrible person.

*goes away to read more wonderful fanfic where Avon never quite lets his sentiment show*

Yes! I am in London tomorrow, seeing estate agents all day, but in the evening, I am looking for a way to entertain self, as sister has agreed to put me up, but asked that I stay out in the evening, as she is doing something to do with her pregnancy; also, I have not seen TDK, and adore dogs. Text me details; I may not see emails for a bit now...

xx

D'aw, you're a Mac user! You have Leopard! And an unnaturally tidy desktop, if I may say so. :)

I'd say "it's a relatively new Mac", but actually I've had it for six months; I just use it for the internet alone about 90% of the time.

I dunno, different people use their desktops different. All my clutter tends to go in my Home folder rather than on the desktop...

@[livejournal.com profile] sebastienne: Were you a Mac person before, too? Is Leopard much better than Tiger? Part of me is sure it's not worth it, but part of me quite fancies the shiny...

My dad used a Mac for work, so the first computer I ever used was an early-nineties Mac.. since then I used Windows for a long time, had a failed experiment with Linux, and have only just now returned to my first love, the Mac.

I think it's totally brilliant, but don't have the ability to make the comparison you require, I'm afraid!

Ah, fair enough -- thanks! I am tempted to ask for details on how the Linux failed, but I will save your LJ from my Free Software evangelism ;-)

I'm sure that with enough time and commitment I could have done things like make the CD/DVD drive mount.. but I am, essentially, lazy. Ideologically I'm a Linux fan. But it was not for me, at least not on that crummy old laptop.

"spurious bondage"

Isn't this from the episode where Anna ties him down in the basement?

I love Avon. When I was young, I wanted to be him. Then I realized I'd never be that talented, but maybe I could be his love interest. Then I realized how unstable that was and went for "little sister". The Avon dreams never die.

Though, let me not recommend reading the books. (esp the one written by Paul Darrow)

Do you know, it might be? A lot of the other things on the site were B7 characters' heads badly photoshopped onto half-naked models, so I was assuming that this was the same. But if it's actually a still from the show - a still from a scene which I remember making me Very Happy Indeed... *feels slightly better now*

I'm not sure I'd want Avon involved in my life in any way, except perhaps in the way [livejournal.com profile] osymandias came to early [livejournal.com profile] ou3fs meetings.. in general, I think I'd much rather read the complex beautiful heart-breaking fanfic, than I would ever actually want to meet the guy.

I saw that Paul Darrow had written a novel of Avon back-story.. my bad-canon sense did tingle when I noticed it, so thanks for the back-up on that!

*ponders* I don't *think* Anna tied Avon up in a basement. I feel sure it would have gone into my mental Folder Of Happy Things. Avon was imprisoned at the beginning of the episode, which led to Much Unshaven H/C Glee, but I don't recall him being particularly tied up. And Anna chained up *Servalan* in a basement at the end, which may also go in that folder, but Avon just teleported in for the mental torture. But sadly, I don't think there was any bondage!Avon there. Nor can I *recall* a scene where Avon wears so few and such unleathery clothes except in 'Shadow' (and a couple of unfortunate season 4 flight-suit moments), and there is no bondage there. So sadly I'm still going to have to go with the bad-photoshop explanation for that shot.

(I KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT AVON'S WARDROBE AND POTENTIAL BONDAGE SITUATIONS, OH GOD.)

I had to re-watch the episode in hope of seeing Avon-bondage to be sure, but you are quite right. Sad as that is, the episode nevertheless contains more Avon/Servalan kink than even I remembered, and so I am still happy.

(THERE CAN BE NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SUCH IMPORTANT TOPICS.)

Sadly Wednesday is the day that I am whizzing off to Oxford for an interview of my own, or I'd love to. CCK is brilliant, and you are lovely. My house is open if you want to come over Tuesday or Wednesday evening, however, and there's lots of crash-space.
