DONNA: INVISIBLE KNAPSACK

So we've established that it is possible to jump into the Time War, even bring Davros back out of it, albeit at great personal cost?

I suggest that Donna will sacrifice herself to save the Time Lords from death. Like Jesus only better. Yes, like Jesus! They'll come back, be so thankful, and take her broken mind and MAKE HER A TIME LORD in reward. Because her sacrifice is so foreshadowed, it's obvious; but this is kids' telly, so surely she's got to live beyond it? Or have we had our fill of "everybody lives!" for this season?

HARRIET FUCKING JONES YOU ARE EVERYTHING DRACO WASN'T

SubWave: How did Rose know that Martha came after her? And where were, idk, Ace or ZOE? And why the dot-dot-dot-dash? You all heard that, right? The master's rhythm, right before the SubWave network kicked in? I guess it's just a red herring, they were tapping into Archangel or something..

After all my ranting about how rubbish the Daleks are, this was a cracking Dalek-episode. So good, in fact, that I want to take back my dismissive assumption that it's all going to end with a Doctor's-Daughter deus ex.

...has anyone called the Doctor's phone number, yet?

Rightho.

What are the rules about showing Who DVDs to groups of people? Did you just ignore them? did you have to make special provisions- like memberships etc?

When they outlaw a group of friends sitting around together watching a favourite TV show, that's the day I'm taking to the streets with a machine gun.

For more in-depth answers (sorry!) you'd have to talk to the society president.

OK, I take back the suggestion that they'll make her a Time Lord.. but they have now opened up the Time War so a lot of things we thought lost must be back in play.

And why is Donna so special, why is reality bending around her? It must be something big, and I think bringing the Time Lords back is pretty big.

You are right about my history, of course; as long as next week's episode is marginally less rubbish than Last of the Time Lords, plot-wise, I'll be happy.

My own personal lord and saviour, Lawrence Miles (http://www.beasthouse-lm2.blogspot.com), thinks we're going to be totally cheated next episode. I have a horrible feeling he's right.

After Last of the Time Lords, I'll be grateful for anything that isn't "everything shifting back a second and getting reset".

I too am braced for a 'cheat' cliffhanger resolution. But looking forward to being surprised.

Oh the number isn't recognised. After you type in the nine you get the 'number has not been recognised' message. 07700 9 must be a UK equivalent to '555'. Sorry about the kink filter thing. But, you know, obvious reasons.

I used to work for a 'mobile services' company, and made fairly heavy use of this:

as, it would appear, do the BBC.

Mobile services? Sounds like a front for a travelling hitman.

Cool ,thanks for the info.

As we don't know how Ace and the Doctor parted ways, we don't know that she'd be on Earth in whatever year DW is in now (I'm guessing 2012 or thereabout). OTOH we do know that Tegan ought to be around, and Jo Grant.

BTW I'm guessing that one of next year's specials is going to be the "Doctor accidentally made himself an enemy of the albino hungover women OF DEATH in the Shadow Proclamation scene" episode.

The stated purpose of the SubWave was an AI network designed to seek out people who might be able to contact the Doctor. None of the other companions had mobiles or were ever given phone numbers to contact the Doctor. Also, not all companions would have been known to Torchwood, UNIT or whomever created the program. So I sort of makes sense...sort of.

Jo and Liz worked for UNIT, as did the Brig, Benton, Yates and so on. You would think they might have heard of them. And they were only never given the ability to contact the Doctor on-screen ;-).

I assume the thing to consider is that most of those people hadn't seen the doctor for 20 or more years (Can't be bothered to work out exact timings). Those contacted by the network were people that had travelled with him in much more recent time. Its not necessarily a good reason but it is a feasible reason. That and they only had room for four different windows on the screen. :)

"How did Rose know that Martha came after her?"
Jack knows Martha and Jack joined the Doctor while Rose was there. Also Martha says her mobile is on the Tardis and Rose knows there wasn't one there when she was. And it's after Martha mentions the mobile that Rose says she was there first.

Zoe:
A young astrophysicist who lived on a space wheel in the 21st century.

You see any spacewheels? There's another 92 years of the 21st Century to go. She might not even have been yet.

dot-dot-dot-dash: Were the Daleks kind enough to bring our entire satellite network with us? I guess it depends how far out this shield that protects the atmosphere and keeps the heat in they established was. Satellites aren't are far out as most people think. Most are still within the official boundary of the atmosphere, which goes a lot further out than most people think. I had a chart from New Scientist somewhere...

Daleks are rubbish. Davros isn't. Glad he's back!

And where were, idk, Ace or ZOE?

It's never been established that any of these companions are still alive, has it? I mean, there's only a handful who'd coexist in this timeline, and on a quick check it seems that some just vanished - plenty of room in the backstory for them to have been killed whilst travelling, or been left in a bar on Alpha Centauri, or just fallen under a bus in 2002 London.

If Ace got killed offscreen I will cry and throw things. In my head she is still FIGHTING CRIME on her time-travelling motorbike, dammit.

Maybe she fought in the time war... I like to think ace would have been well up for that. It has to be said though that I would love to see Ace come back as guest old companion in a later series. It'd be awesome... :)

Where does the bike come into things (needs to add relevant DVDs to rental list)?

In my mind's eye, NA-Ace did her time travelling with a "hopper" (worn like a backpack?) rather than a bike.

However, as Rose has taken over Ace's role of fighting Daleks with a Big Freakin Gun, maybe she'll get the time-travelling crime-fighting scenes too?

Hopper? Where'sat come from?

From Kate Orman's "Set Piece", or from Kadiatu Lethbridge-Stewart, depending on how you're asking. Though I concede that she may have been using it in conjunction with a bike by "Head Games".

She's definitely toting a firearm on the cover of First Frontier (http://www.drwhoguide.com/who_na30.htm); but all the fighting Daleks with guns happened between books (due to Daleks rights issues).
