Jul. 15th, 2007 10:52 pmAnd now, in bullet-point format for your pleasure, may I present:
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix
- Just in case you hadn't noticed that Fred & George are meant to be Merry & Pippin, here they are with illicit fireworks. Shaped like a dragon. Subtle.
- Just in case I ever felt guilty about my adolescent Snarry fixation, here are a few occlumency lessons to remind me everything I ever saw in the pairing. Ohgod. Alan Rickman, stop saying "penetration" and "discipline" like that. For my homosexuality. Please.
- Hermione; just no.
- Umbridge was even more like my old headmistress than she was in the books. I did not think this possible.
- Two seconds of Remus/Sirius interaction. Two seconds. But it was enough. Their love was there.
the prohecy (speculation follows)
OK, my pre-movie money was pretty firmly on the prophecy having referred to both Harry AND Neville, up until Voldie scarred Harry, at which point it became about Harry only; and that "neither can live while the other survives" meant that Harry must die in order to render Voldemort mortal, and then Neville would kill him as the prophecy reverts.
The film has changed that somewhat.
Neville: "I'm proud of my parents' sacrifice, and will avenge them"
Neville: "Hey, Harry, doesn't this prophecy have your name on it?
.....
Lucius Malfoy: "Only the person about whom a prophecy is made, can find it"
What is really being foreshadowed here? I'm starting to think that it is NEVILLE'S sarifice. In the very first book, Neville had to be incapacitated for the trio to succeed in foiling evil; his actions ended up winning Gryffindor the House Cup. In the final book, will success again depend on Neville's self-sacrifice? His death, this time?
Is Neville the Sam character? Last-minute ring-bearer, not the hero, but without whom no success would have been possible? Herbology = gardening, Y/N?
There is no crack in my theories, what do you mean?!
Right, now I'm off to click your spoiler cuts & read your reviews; but I can't guarantee I won't miss any - if you've anything particularly interesting/fun/squeeful to say, link me?
