Just thought I'd make myself explicitly clear: after the OULES dinner tonight it is INTRUSION at THE CELLAR (behind Lush on Cornmarket Street) which is Oxford's resident monthly GOTH NIGHT and has recently been DECLINING IN QUALITY SOMEWHAT. At least some of this decline in quality has been my lack of PEOPLE TO DANCE WITH, and this is where you all come in. Come one, come all, drink starwberry cider and draw imaganinary cobwebs in the air with your wrists.

Intrusion is rubbish when it's all scenesters and bleepy electronica.. it's BRILLIANT when it's full of people I know, in quasi-fancy-dress (the essence of goth, no?), arsing about, to the Cure and Manson and NIN and random kids' tv themes and metal covers of pop classics..

I have finished finals, and I DEMAND TO HAVE SOME FUN.

INDULGE ME.

But will be dancing very gingerly because by then my nipple will be pierced.

Heh. I remember when goths complained that Manson wasn't real goth music, and whinged about how goth culture was being diluted by the influx of metal and industrial music. I didn't care, I thought it was great anyway. Equally, I'm sure you'll eventually come round to the brilliance of electronica. Resistance is futile...

Brilliance? Electronica has its moments of amazing brilliance, but I find that there's a huge amount of cookie-cutter goth electronica that is passable to dance to, but utterly uninspiring otherwise. That said I don't really know much electronica outside that marketed-to/liked-by goths, so recommendations for my enlightenment are very welcome :)

Of course, the only definition of Real Goth Music is 'anything $GOTH likes that has an even tenuously dark aesthetic/connection' By which definition March Of The Sinister Ducks qualifies, which is fine by me.

I shall be there, and shall be dancing. Goodness knows I need it after Finals.
