I'm in your librareez, moving your journalz

(where is that meme-y thing from? I see it, and now, it seems, feel compelled to use it, but I know not its roots...)

Two weeks of manual handling in the RSL. Such a pretty old building, odd contrasts between huge pillars and high ceilings (come on, you knowledgable people, what's the architectural style of the RSL?), and the very 60s, very utilitarian basement, with its odd fluorescent/modern art lighting design. Very nice way indeed to earn almost £500, even if it leaves me with less time than I'd like to, eg, finish a practical report due in for 0th week, or revise for collections. It does, however, mean I can eat next term, which is a definite advantage.

the delectable [livejournal.com profile] mundi_gaudium is graciously letting me sleep in her young ones-ish house for a week, until I can move back to college (via some housesitting) and those of you who missed the Pit Party last night should feel extra remorseful as you missed her in corset and tailcoat.

oh, and I sewed up the "J" on an old W.W.J.D. bracelet. Now it says W.W.O.D..

Er, neo-Palladian? The architect was James Gibbs, IIRC, and it was opened in the 1770s. *wikis* Er, make that 1749. And though it was about the right time, Gibbs doesn't seem to be described as such - the closest I can find is "English Baroque with Palladian influence". And he seems to have hung around with Rococo types a lot. Also, Hawksmoor is credited by Wikipedia with coming up with the round shape, and he seems to be considered solidly Baroque.

I was in Radcliffe Square once, and I heard some old guy (not a tour guide, or at least not one of ours) saying "If you look, there are three geometrical solids: a cone (St. Mary the Virgin), a cylinder (Rad Cam) and a cube (Old Bod)". I think that has to be the most breathtakingly wrong thing I've ever heard about Oxford...

I am in your base I am killing all your mens/doods originates from competitative RTS games like 'command or conquer' or CTF games like 'counterstrike'. It is inspired by the Engrish of 'All your base' and designed to annoy an opponent that is being beaten and is designed to annoy.

Have you read 'The Versuvius Club' by Mark Gatiss?

Emma, please could you ask Ashley where she got that amazing neon pink hair dye? One of my friends needs some. Thanks! :)
