there's the whole thing, for those of you that want to get enraged all over again. am feeling a lot better, now, not least because of people (notable mention to [livejournal.com profile] mejoff, [livejournal.com profile] slasheuse, [livejournal.com profile] stronglight) posting comments that made me smile.

this play has actually eaten my life, mind. yesterday we had a four hour rehearsal, and tomorrow we'll have similar. yes, it means i missed dr who: DON'T SPOIL ME FOR IT! (and if you could point me in the direction of a downloadable version, well, there might just be some sexual favours coming your way, sweetheart.)

welcome to lj, [livejournal.com profile] pinkweasel! may it eat destroy enrich your life in the way it has mine.

I haven't read the review, but sweetie, for real -- why are you taking anything written in the OxStu seriously enough to get enraged by it? What a stupid rag that is. Oy.

[livejournal.com profile] doctorwho_eps is the place to go for old and new DW downloads, or you could just stop by my room and watch the copy on my laptop.

"I fear however that the travesty it makes of the bard may be an anathema to Oxford’s more erudite theatregoer."

Oh please!

Slagging something off with fancy-schmancy phrases, particularly Pratchett, doesn't make you a good critic, it makes you a twit.

Here's my review, even though I haven't seen it:

If you like Terry Pratchett, go see. If you don't, don't.

I notice she can't actually find anything wrong with the production itself. Do you want her assinated? I'll do it for gin and a kiss.

Oh.. OH.
I actually feel sick to my stomach at that review.
What a pretentious WANKER. Jesus. CHRIST.

She irrationally hates the books, and irrationally hates the play. You're obviously doing something exactly right. Good job.

Can't wait to see it :)

Also, may a rabbit nibble off her typing fingers.

And Dungeons and Dragons should be capitalised, damnit.

Oooooh, she liked the boys. Also that last line killed me ded. So many instances of thesaurus rape, wtf. "I will use polysyllables to impress, since I have no personality!"

Also wtf: Did she actually, like, review the play? Was that ever on the agenda? Or was this just an opportunity for her to tell an audience that Pratchett is Uncool?

WOW WAY TO GO, OXSTU. *slow clap*

...Bet she's a Harry/Hermione shipper.

I KNOW.

Also, and this has been annoying me since this review first appeared - you don't need to say 'an anathema'. Something is 'anathema to me', not an anathema.

This is like - the way the '10 items or less' sign in Tesco is slowly driving me insane.

I once wrote a note telling them about that to put on their "Questions and Comments" noticeboard, but nothing ever came of it...

The OED says you can spell that either way, alas. I did try to nitpick it, but unfortunately it's quite acceptable.

...!!! *hates on American Heritage Dictionary. SO MUCH*

*thinks fast* Yeah well in the YOO-nited STAYTES we don' truck with no...flexible spelling. That'd lead right to the destruction of the, uh. English language, y'all. And we'd have to start letting OTHER words change THEIR spellings. Get ever'thing all confused.

Oh, dude, I know. Like, for God's sake y'all, DECIDE whether it's 'inquire' or 'enquire', 'kay? Stop being so damned VAGUE.

This is why I kinda love Noah Webster. Well, that and the arrogance of him saying "Bah, this spelling system we've got going on for our entire language, it's stupid, I'm going to straight-up change everything about it. And bend everyone to my will." Love that too.
