i know, i know, a girl as uninhibited as me shouldn't need an excuse to wear corsetry and kiss beautiful women. however, sometimes i do, and Queer Bop was just such an excuse.
having a hot girl on a collar and chain is really something i could get used to, you know.
well, mine wasn't very well made - the boning started to come out halfway through the evening, so i had to take it back in the end. but, it was good while it lasted.
holyblibblefuckfuck My god. Is it wrong when I saw that picture before the LJ cut, and didn't click on the link for a good 5 minutes because I couldn't stop staring?
I totally do NOT have a crush on your girlfriend. Or you. No. >_< Oh boy.
well, these pictures come from the legendary Wadham Queer Bop, which happens in the 6th week of every michaelmas term. it is the highlight of the queer calendar, but then, i would say that because i'm not very 'scene' and Wadham's my college so it was great to have an explosion of queerness outside my front door.
'bops' are like in-college party, that happen with varying frequencies at different colleges. wadham has one every other week. you can go to bops at colleges other than your own, but they normally charge entrance fees. queer bop is so popular that you need to get on the guest list - each wadhamite is allowed to put two outsiders on the guestlist.
there are queer bops at other colleges too - somewhere had a 'hallowqueen' bop this year, for example. but wadham is the bestest.
Ahhhh. Well, it all sounds like utter utter heaven. I don't know very much about the, um, "scene" at Oxford (not something I knew who to ask about) - look forward to becoming enlightened!

well, the lgbsoc have a website (http://lgbsoc.com/index.php) which you might find useful. i went to one of their drinks parties, but it was too many people i did not know in too small a space. i am not a very sociable person in such circumstances, and left within 20 minutes. despite the fact that it was held in the 'Oscar Wilde Room', the only reason i went along in the first place!
also, there are no gay indie club nights in oxford. and as that's pretty much the only kind of club night that i find preferable to sleeping, i haven't ventured out very much.
yes, it's in magdalen, the college He went to. it's not very exciting, just a room named after Him. but i did get very excited about the fact that i matriculated (officially joined the university; strange ceremony with random latin) on His birthday.
and, ask anything you're curious about, i'm more than happy to help if i can - i sure wish i'd known somebody already at oxford when i was in your position!
That is a very natural thing to be excited about (Have you read the McKenna biography of Him? It's very, well, shiny. And has a terribly pretty colour and lots of nice pictures, as all biographies should).
Thankyou! That's very kind of you. How much does it cost to go to these bop things, for starters?
having never paid, and having only ever had guests to bops by sneaking them in at lunchtime & hanging out in my room until evening, i'm not sure - but i think queer bop was somewhere in the region of £5, and other wadham bops cost less, like about £3.
some colleges do have the occasional ball, with themes and black-tie and all sorts, which might cost 50-odd quid, but bops are just a couple of rooms of sweaty drunken undergrads dancing to cheesey music, so they really don't cost all that much.
