[livejournal.com profile] tartanshell's Christmas Meme:

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

So, my list:

1. real, actual corsetry. the kind that isn't made of plastic that stretches and breaks the first time you wear it. just the knowledge of where i could affordably obtain such a corset would be christmas joy indeed.
2. Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince - or at least a release date for. thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jeasus and mugglenet, i now know this to be 11th or 18th of June, 2005.
3. A long, dark red wig with a 60s fringe. Any form of strange costumery.
4. Music - I recently lost my copy of Mechanical Animals - just the CD mind, I still have the box. D'oh!
5. DVD - Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban, Chicago, Withnail, Cabaret, Placebo 'Once More with Feeling' - called... etc.
6. Really Cool Gay/Fandom-Based Icons always rock my world. Anyone with photoshop skillz, or, indeed, anyone inclined to write fic, should be aware that Crowley/Aziraphale, [livejournal.com profile] foulds/[livejournal.com profile] squarky, and any Hermione-based femslash is particularly rocking my socks at the moment.
7. My Psychology textbooks - I need them over christmas, I have exams the day after I come back... but I can find no library to lend them to me over the holidays.
8. Plot bunnies. I have 6 weeks of Christmas holiday to fill, and something constructive like plot bunnies would help me pass the time if I don't get a job, because I won't be able to afford to leave the house if that happens. (No, [livejournal.com profile] parnsip and [livejournal.com profile] ladylick, i've not forgotten our fic-based projects - but I'm looking for other ideas as well.)
9. For that matter, a Christmas job would be really, really useful. Anyone know any bookshops in the London area looking for a young, keen, literate, temporary employee?
10. A beautiful girlfriend with artistic skillz and impeccable taste in fictional detectives: wait, scratch that one. Somebody got it for me already. <3.

1. When did you first "friend" me?

Uhm .. a couple of months ago? A month ago? I'm not great with dates and numbers.

2. Why did you first "friend" me?

Actually I spotted you on that Arrogant Twit book community - the one where you apply and semi-literate (if terribly self-absorbed) people abuse you. I saw your list, thought *OMG!!!!gosh!!!!!* and then I checked out your LJ. And friended you immediately.

3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best?

All of them, really.

4. What would you like me to write about that I don't?

Hey, your journal, your writing, your decisions. I'm just here reading :)

5. Do you think we would be friends in real life?

I have no idea. I don't think I'd be able to say that just yet - but I think you're extremely appealing!

6. How often do you read my journal?

You're on my Read-list, so every time you update.

7. What do we have in common?

Queer stuff. Fannish stuff. Oscar Wilde. Glitter. Books. All the good things in life.

8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer?

Already have, but dash if I know where or when ..

1. When did you first "friend" me? Good Lord, how the hell should I remember? A while back, I suppose.
2. Why did you first "friend" me? I found you on a poetry community, and thought you were interesting.
3. What posts of mine do you like to read the best? I like them all...you're always entertaining, intelligent, and witty.
4. What would you like me to write about that I don't? Hmmm...minutiae, I guess. I like to hear about your life.
5. Do you think we would be friends in real life? I think so, yes. I'd be your non-gothy friend who still enjoyed hanging out.
6. How often do you read my journal? Every time you post something.
7. What do we have in common? We both love LOTR and poetry, and we're both lovely, intelligent women.
8. Will you post this in your journal so I can answer? Sure, but I'm waiting till later because I want everyone to see the Christmas meme.

2. Because I was Hermione and you were Ginny.
3. All of them. Your squeeage is the best.
4. You need to write me femslash. Now.
5. I would have to say, we are.
6. Every time you post :P
7. Not a HUGGGE amount that we don't. I don't have the Oscar loff, though I must say "Thinking is the most unhealthy thing in the world, and people die of it just as they die of any other disease. Fortunately, in England at any rate, thought is not catching"
8. Done.

Btw, have some HOT fic for you. Remind me. Andrrrro Draco/Harry... and more :)

For text books, have you tried the second-hand floor of Blackwells? A lot of people sell theirs on when they finish their degree.

[livejournal.com profile] foulds/[livejournal.com profile] squarky - wow, those poor boys won't be able to look at each other the same way again! But I think it'd be adorable anyhow... ^_^
