Goodbye February!
Feb. 28th, 2011 06:23 pmI was really sick at the beginning of the month, the first time in my life I've really had 'flu; in fact I seem to have essentially blinked at the end of January and woken up mid-February. Since then I've been running to catch up, which has not been helped by last week and this week both being two-day work-weeks where I'm out of town from Wednesday through Sunday.
Last week I was in Seville, visiting my little sister, who lives out there. It was incredibly sunny, which really gave the SAD a kick in the teeth; I hope that it lasts. There were statues with sock suspenders, gorgeous cyberpunk bars, and street pirates. One day, we took a mini adventure down to Tarifa, where they had post-apocalyptic castles with views of Morocco.
This week I'm going to York with Lashings, to perform at a "Carnival of Feminist Activism". We're doing a preview on Friday night, then a full hour in the last slot on Saturday, right before a plenary from Charlotte Cooper (OMG <3<3<3).
So, yes, apologies if I appear to have simply stepped out of the time-stream and skipped February altogether. In fact, I haven't, although I spent quite a lot of time fervently wishing that I could (it is, without a doubt, my least favourite month of the year). But I've not blogged, or been a good friend, and hopefully next month I will start to fix those things.
For your regular fix of
sebastienne-style bloggy goodness, may I suggest that you check out the awesome and exciting NEW Lashings of Ginger Beer blog? Lots of my Lashy colleagues are posting there, as will I be in the fullness of time, providing an even more reflective and political take on many of the themes that we address in our burlesque. Dreamwidth users will soon be able to follow us at
lashingsofgb_feed; if anyone with a paid/permanent LJ account could please set up an atom syndication, then you'll be able to watch us on your flist too EDIT: thanks to the lovely
j4, LJ users can now follow us at lashingsofgb!

(Couldn't give it the same title as the DW feed because it wouldn't allow a name that long, sorry)
