Mar. 30th, 2007 04:12 pm"This is to inform you that the College windows are being cleaned during April, starting at 0730 on Monday 16th April ... the window cleaners will work their way round the College cleaning both internally and externally, and hope to complete within approximately a week.
If any Fellows do not wish the cleaners to have access without being accompanied please let me know"
Why do the fellows get the choice not to allow an unaccompanied stranger into their room, while I don't? The other day I got back from the library to find that someone had been into my room, moved my things, and removed my heater. If I had been given any notice at all that this was going to take place, I could have moved the clothes drying on it myself - and been a bit less freaked out to come back and see my things had been disturbed. Some nameless electrician had his or her hands all over my underwear and I don't like it. And now cleaners who aren't trustworthy enough to be allowed into fellows' rooms unaccompanied are going to be allowed into mine.
Still. I have a house and a job sorted for next year so soon I won't have to worry about all this crap. Sure, the landlord has been fucking us about a bit: "right, all the credit check stuff is sorted - come sign!" -- "well it seems there are still some problems on the credit check front." But now we have all signed contracts so it's her problem, not ours. We have a house. Our own house, where no-one I don't know is going to be able to move my knickers. Thus this icon is apt.

Date: 2007-03-30 03:56 pm (UTC)I dislike cleaners.
Sylvia - the woman who "cleans" my house every friday - turns up at least 5 minutes late, takes a 15 to 20 minute break after an HOUR of ironing, plays with the dog then leaves 5 minutes early!!! That is, let me see, 30/40 minutes not working within 3 hours. Argh. We only let her iron now.
Also, I applied for a cleaning job at an old people's home - just hoovering the halls etc. BUT they said I couldn't have it because I am MALE and may worry the old women. Me? Me???
I am bitter and ranting. How are you? Feeling better? x

Date: 2007-03-31 12:45 pm (UTC)Countless times I walk into the kitchen in my PJs in the morning, and the maintenance guys are there.. or I come home and my door is locked (they have to do that, even if the door was left open) so I KNOW someone has been in my room and I DON'T know who and I don't know what they were looking at/touching.. and it creeps me out.
They leave the internal window cleaning till the summer though, strangely tactful for Trinity!
But yes.
Pain, I feel it.
