The band Borderville, who you may remember me ranting about last term, are starting to take the piss. They played in Oxford just after I'd left, and now they're playing in London just after I get back to Oxford. I will see them again - Port Mahon, February 1st - but still. I want the glam-prog beauty now, dammit! FFS, they have a keyboardist whose sole purpose is to provide "noise"! I really would advise you all to accompany me next month.

My college is also taking the piss. 6 hours of collections = no fun. Spreading those two hours of collections over two days, including MY BIRTHDAY (why do I always have collections on my birthday? last year it was a Friday, this year a Saturday, always exams), is just cruel.

ETA: Oh no. even better. They have now moved all my collections to my birthday. I don't finish exams until 5pm on my birthday. That's just lovely. Really it is. Especially when my parents can't bring my stuff up except, oh, Saturday afternoon? Six hours bent over a desk followed immediately by two hours lugging boxes. Oh no, I'm not going to go to bed with a screamingly painful back, am I?

Yeah, but at least you actually get to be around people on your birthday. Early August = no fun either. In school everyone was on holiday, and now it's just after my lease ends and everyone will be back home anyway. Bah.

(am totally not going to gloat over the fact that both of last term's tutors have said "well, there's enough trouble with the hall being out of action, let's not add to it" and given us voluntary unsupervised collections. no.)

.. but next year you're birthday will be on a sunday and you'll be... oh, graduated. Shit.

Lest I forget before this weekend, many happy returns of the day.

Actually, as 2008's a leap year, it'll be a Monday... no it won't, because it's before the leap in February. Ignore me.

would you like help carrying boxes? i am rugged and strong, and wish to make up for having no collection (purely because i *did no work* last term and thus there is nothing they can examine me on!)...

Port Mahon on the 1st, you say ? i'm convinced, and can probably persuade a [livejournal.com profile] snowspider along as well !

Saturday sympathies.

Make a request for alcohol of your choice/cake of your choice and I will come provide you with when you get out of collections?

borderville! em that is so weird - the lead vocalist, Joe Swarbrick, is someone I kind of know, or at least, he's a mutual friend of some people I'm very close to. He's an ex-Cambridge dude.

He played Hedwig in the first production I ever saw of it, and was pants-droppingly AMAZING. I wish you could've seen it! The Hedwig band reformed to play a May Ball last year that I went to, performing lots of their Hedwig stuff - made my night! The man's an absolute star.
