From the Wadham handbook, 2006/2007:

The college does not provide .. duvets, although a pillow is provided.

of course, telling people this before they pack to come away to uni would be too sensible, and instead they will arrive to find the information in their pigeon hole. i imagine the queues in argos will be a sight to behold..

However, Borders usually manage a Blue Cross sale to coincide with 0th week. I still love the duckdown duvet I got from there for about £20.

did lots of other people expect duvets to be provided? i took my own duvet and pillows, i just assumed we'd need our own...

seven years at boarding school taught me to bring my own duvet and pillow even if they say they provide them as the ones provided usually won't be that nice(at school the pillows were pancake flat - no good for reading at all). Hilda's provides pillows but no duvets just blankets, didn't realise other colleges actually gave you duvets.

well, we had duvets provided in our first year, and they didn't think to let us know that this had changed until we actually arrive to move in.

that is new as of v recently no? in my 4th year we had duvets provided (though I always had my own for comfort)
