I've been wearing birkenstock sandals for the last month. They're dykey, they're comfortable, they're red & black so they go with all my clothes.

But today, I'm at work in purple boots, jeans, fishnet top and Dick Whittington hoodie, and I feel more like myself that I have all month.

I like skirts, they're pretty, they suit me - I get to wear obnoxiously bright stripy knee socks - but oh, it's nice to have a pair of flares that fit me again, and to be wearing them with steel-toed boots.

What I really want, now, is boots like chaosdeathfish's and oxfordgirl's. Remind me again why I'm doing a job that doesn't pay me, this summer?

Think about it this way, if you were being paid, it would probably be to do something you'd hate, and you'd have money but no time to spend it and you'd come back to Oxford feeling miserable. As it is you are doing something Worthwhile, being a Good Person, working up some Righteous Indignation, and hopefully enjoying it more than shelf-stacking or Barracudas. *grin*

*shrug* I keep finding volunteer work that I could do for the next year - I'm thinking of volunteering to do the telephones for the Samaritans or the London LGB Switchboard. But I haven't yet found a job that'll pay me enough to get by on that I'd want to do.
