#reverb10 5, 6
Dec. 6th, 2010 06:08 pmDecember 5: Let Go
What (or whom) did you let go of this year? Why?
I shall not be maudlin about my job in admissions, especially as this is the first #reverb10 post that I've chosen to make public. Instead I shall mark 2010 as the first year I remember that passed entirely with no academic grading. No exams, no essays, no ticks or crosses. No teacher's validation. The last calendar year in which this was true for me was in the 1980s.
For someone who spent most of her life being defined by academic achievement, this is perhaps having more of an effect on my current mental state than I'm consciously acknowledging. Another point to think on in the coming weeks.
December 6:Make
What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?
I'm not very interested in this question, perhaps because I don't think I really make things. Dinner, maybe. I'm going to go home and make a crumble, I think. It'll just be fruit and muesli, perhaps some sugar if the fruit seems tart.
