Dear [livejournal.com profile] sebastienne,

You are not, in fact, superhuman. In particular, you should remember that glandular fever is essentially throat-herpes, and that it will come back if you push yourself too hard. Maybe not in the unable-to-get-out-of-bed-for-two-weeks way that you originally had it; but it won't make it easy for you to be a radical feminist burlesque superstar if you feel dizzy and nauseous whenever you try to get out of bed.

Drink more water. Go to bed earlier. Have nights off. Eat more green-n-leafies. This is *why* you needed the 4-day week; don't blow it by filling the rest of your time as tightly as when you were working a 5-day week!

Use Edinburgh as a holiday. You have put in so much work and stress in preparation; let the festival itself slip by in a blur of fun. Accept the screw-ups, every show has them. But most of all:

"Make a wish, and see yourself on stage, inside out, a tangle of garlands in your hair. Of course you are pleasantly surprised..."

"Never age. Never die. Live forever in that one last white-hot moment, when the crowd screamed. Burn across the sky."

Do not sabotage yourself when you are this close to that feeling. You know your limitations. Accept them, and transcend them through sensible time-management, NOT through burning out.

Burn always. Don't burn out.
