Jun. 2nd, 2009 09:24 amBy now, I am resigned to the fact that this flist just does not care about Favourite Local Band Borderville:
"If you tried to teach Martians about rock music with nothing but videos of Tommy, the musical Buffy episode, a Rick Wakeman album and a scratchy 7" of 'Ballroom Blitz', they'd probably turn out performances just like Borderville." - Nightshift
Nevertheless, this is my journal, home to my squee, and I happen to think it is awesome that they appear to be on the verge of having put together a whole album. This is something that they used to tease me with back in 2006, when they had the great sweeping concept set, but that it's taken them until now to produce. Sure, they'll never play the concept narrative again; but they've made the concession of turning awesome bombastic puntastic Glambulance! into their next single. And they've managed to make me deeply excited about seeing them tomorrow, when I had been feeling a creeping sense of ennui.
Also it helps that the lead singer (see icon) sent an email to his entire address book, plugging how awesome the band are sounding. And that I was on the bcc: list due to pestering him for bootlegs last year. Very clever headology on the part of the band; now that I expect to enjoy myself tomorrow night, I am much more likely to do so.
