From now on, I would like to declare the month of October International Meet Your Friends List Month. In the last two days I have met mercury_needle, slasheuse and jacinthsong, all of whom are lovely and make me very excited for the remainder of my time in Oxford. This time last year, I met chains_of_irony - and, of course, parsnip, and look how that turned out!

Your flist is full of real people! They are on your flist, for the most part, I should imagine, because you have more than a little in common with them, or you find them irresistably attractive, or both. You know it makes sense!

(If you can never imagine your online and RL worlds colliding even a little, or would be terrifed to meet anyone on your friends list, I'd love to know why - because I think meeting the Flist is a great way to make friends based on more than just which college you attend.)

Hmm. Of the two people on my friends' list that I knew on here before in RL (I'm not sure about OU3fs members... I can't recall if I added them before meeting them) I met one in December, and the other in July.

And the only one on there that I haven't met lives in America, so no meeting people this October for me :(

Mostly I know people in the flesh before I add them to my lj list. But then, there are, I think, 3 exceptions, so maybe I should give that a go.
