May. 10th, 2005 08:22 pma lot of people have uploaded music to their journals or otherwise sent me songs. because it takes me a while to decide, i rarely seem to give the people who give me fabulous songs the credit they deserve. so i'm uploading some of the best songs, with a great big thank you to the people who introduced me to them. sometimes i don't know the artist, or even the name of the song; i shall describe as best i can. but these are my very favourites of all the songs i've 'borrowed' from other people over the years - i hope you like them too. if you uploaded them, comment, and i will do something in exchange. upload a song, write a drabble, tell everyone on my flist how much i adore you. these are the songs that have made me happy when i've been down.
out of my head by fastball. it's just so pretty, and melodic.
i mean this chastely by the ambassadors of sorrow - i mean to be chaste. chased? just a beautiful beautiful paean to repressed sexuality. with handclaps. and an incredibly hypnotic vocal.
damn, wish i was your lover - sophie b hawkins. yes, i'm a sucker for Women Who Feel Stuff.
sympathy for the devil - guns & roses. the version from the interview with a vampire film. so good i could die.
lover, you should have been over - jeff buckley. the only jeff buckley i own apart from hallelujah, it's almost even more pretty. mournful.
cathedrals - jump, little children - another mournful one. i didn't realise, until i started compiling this, how mournful i like my music. in the cathedrals of new york and rome / there is a feeling that you should just go home.
the internet is for porn from avenue Q - this one isn't mournful! it's hilarious! and from a musical that mocks muppets!
last call casualty - i have a soft spot for bowling for soup and i don't care.
the girl all the bad guys want is another example of this dubious taste. i can't get enough!
girl anachronism - the dresden dolls. i think narayani would love this song. as she can't download in durham i'll have to put it on a CD for her. i got this from
parsnip, and it makes me want to jump around the room, screaming and head-banging. it's insane. like me, some days.
hot topic - le tigre. i don't even know why i like this song, there is no defining thing that i can pick out. i just enjoy it immensely.
Comin' Up From Behind - ok, this one doesn't fit the theme. i went searching for it myself, because it was used as a backing track in Burlesk ond ohmigod is it amazing. shecksy.

Date: 2005-05-10 01:07 pm (UTC)am i close?
(there are quite a few other songs that i'm sure are from you that could equally have been on here; eg hawksley workman - striptease, franz ferdinand - get up, use me.)
anyway. your music taste rules like a reigning thing.

Date: 2005-05-11 01:45 am (UTC)I heard the sick and twisted rape recently that was Jamie Cullum (urgh vom vom vom) singing Lover, you should've come over. It was like really painful aural sex.
The reason for you liking Le Tigre is because you are a decent human being with a pulse.
