Definitely (as I've said myself) a novelist's episode; and I thought Rory was wondering whether the Doctor had a room, other than the console room. The battered sofa arrangement in the 2005 console room has gone, but I think Gaiman thinks it's where the Doctor slept next to his beloved.

Strangely enough, my first story was Death to the Daleks and I, being about five or six at the time, was left with the impression that the inflatable stripy thing in the console room at the start was the Doctor's hammock. It took me a while to realise what it actually was.
