it's the christmas season, and what can that mean apart from Really Bad Festive Telly?

today it was My Fair Lady. it's one of those things that everybody knows, i suppose, but somehow i'd managed to make it through almost 19 years of life without ever having seen it. i'm sure it won't be spoiling the film for anyone to say that it has a 'happy ending', audrey hepburn going back to the bastard who has absolutely no consideration for her. the film basically finished with him slobbing out in his chair and saying 'yeah, knew you'd come back, now gimme my slippers, wench'. yeuch. i have one bit of advice for you, audrey:

slit the bastard's throat and marry sherlock holmes!

ETA: there are pretty-pretty carols on now, but my voice is still missing in action so i can't sing along :(

I can't believe that someone with that AMAZING icon has never seen 'My Fair Lady'...I received 'The Annotated Sherlock Holmes' as a Hanukkah present and am rapidly making my way through it. I highly recommend it.

Also the songs in My Fair Lady were bad. Not as bad as the phantom of your mum, but bad enough.
