wow.

so this is oxford.

i'm overwhelmed and intimidated. and quite surprised at how socially dysfunctional i have proved to be.

maybe things will improve.

but maybe i'll end up sitting in my room with a book for the next three years. who knows?

right now i have a headache and that's all i want to do anyways.

It'll be ok. if you want to meet up for a drink somewhere underwhelming, give me a mail.
in fact, i'm having the first oxford student music meeting on thursday 6pm round the back of the turf. come along, i want someone with your skills writing for me.
(ask for abby at the booth on weds at freshers fair)

aww, thanks :)

i'm feeling better now i've met my philo tutor and gone to this far out website belonging to this logic lecturer which is all about 1984 (as in orwell) and semantic revolution (!?!).

but i will certainly seek you out. (do you mean weds? according to my freshers' timetable, that's the wadham fair, and the ousu one is on thurs.)

I felt the same. It has subsided today, as we broke the ice a little and did some fun things. But then the day ends and you (well certainly I do) find yourself feeling similarly unsociable emotions. But you're right, I think it will improve.

emma loo! my internet is finally working. i hope you are having a lovely time now. you aren't socially dysfunctional, you are very easy to talk to - you just need to have more confidence. once people start talking to you, they'll love you :)
keep in touch.

Which college are you at?

(To save any confusion: found reference to you in relation to a Fanfiction and Folklore society on Oxford lj-comm; and also you are a friend of [livejournal.com profile] gatty's, as am I. Hence am not absolutely random person.)

Hee, is Wadhamite a commonly used term?

(I've just been informed that I'll be able to call myself a Hildabeast next year, hence sudden interest in all things Oxford.)

oh yes, it's the official term - but i just can't help having this 'sense of humour'.

congrats: i'm sure you'll have a fab time :) what's your subject?

a couple of my friends from school have just got conditional offers, so nexts year's intake looks to be excellent.

English! I seem to have blagged my way to Oxford on the strength of Early Gay Fiction. Go me.

(Ahahaha. Wadhamite. Don't worry; I'm also amused. I need some Wadham boys to address thus.)

wadham's 'queer bop' is the absolute party highlight of the year.

it does what it says on the tin; cross-dressing, corsetry, outrageousness and camp.

(also, yay for teh gay at interview: my personal statement was all about gender issues (i was going for psychology, so it was vaguely relevant) and began with the sentence, 'do i seriously expect you to believe that seeing david bowie on top of the pops 2 began my interest in psychology?)
