those of you who have been following jkr's official site will know that the do-not-disturb door is now able to be opened.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

and jkr has stated outright that this person is neither harry nor voldemort!

she also stated here that this was the original title for book 2, but that 'unfortunately the story bore no relation whatsoever to the title by the time I'd finished.' so, are we to assume that the character featured in some way in the 2nd book, ie, although remus is half-blood, we can rule him out?

some ideas we've been bouncing around:

Hagrid - features heavily in book 2. is half-giant. (yes, who says it has to be half-blood wizard?)

Justin Finch-Fletchely - was down for eton (..princely school..) before he got his hogwarts letter. was petrified in book 2, and attacked by the snake at duelling club. however, have a sneaking suspicion he might be muggleborn.

Colin Creevey - also petrified in book 2. his dad was a milkman, but we never hear about his mother. a DA member, who fanboys harry. introduced in book 2.

Viktor Krum - still in correspondance with Hermione, even in the background... but how could he have ever featured in book 2?

Seamus - is half-blood, but a prince?! and i'm sure it's a long time since ireland had a monarch ([livejournal.com profile] jeasus, [livejournal.com profile] copinggoggles, wanna help me out on that?)

or, of course, JKR could introduce another new character, like luna or tonks. but surely they must at least get a mention in book 2?!

my favourite theory is that narcissa malfoy was shagging prince charles.

we come to it at last: the last exam for my time at school.

that's right - barring retakes (touchwood), tommorrow's exam on victorian literature is the last school exam i will ever have to take!

joy!

We had High Kings WAY back.
Up till about 1169 when the Normans came. After that they weren't called Kings anymore.
So.
No half blood prince from Ireland.

Thanks! I deleted the comment almost as soon as I made it, because I read up the comments list and saw you'd already been asked, and answered (or in the words of Rammstein "Du, du hast, du hast mich, do hast mich gefragt, du hast mich gefragt, du hast mich gefragt...")

Yes, that is indeed a tattoo of mine. It is on my right wrist, vaguely circling the wrist knobble bone (technical term, that!)

cool :) does the symbol have a specific meaning? it looks similar to a couple of things, i guess, but i don't think i've ever seen anything quite like it.

hmm. if you mean the butterfly on the main page, the fly in the door room, etc, they cannot be caught. they are amusing/annoying pieces of programming which will always flee from your cursor. however, the spider on the main page is something else entirely...

Yeah, it's an adaptation of the trans symbol imposed on a question mark. (I have questioned my gender, others occasionally question me on it's behalf!)
