just got back from seeing shrek 2 - verry funny in places, although i thought the ending let it down somewhat. it's got a lot more 'contemporary' references than the first one - and i'm worried that it won't weather as well.

princess fiona still perfect ogress.

a piece of advice if you do go to see it - don't leave the moment the credits come on, like some people did. you will miss fun if you do.

also - *falls over and dies a thousand deaths* - there was a rocky reference. eternal love and fairy-cakes for anyone who spots it, and squees as loudly as i did!

saw some local choirs doing britten's war requiem last night, with [livejournal.com profile] gatty, [livejournal.com profile] aliche and [livejournal.com profile] threadbarewolf. it was incredibly pretty, and intensely melancholy/painful in places. i've always had a thing for requiems, and the inclusion of WWI poetry could only make it more moving & impressive. and when the choir is muttering, not singing, and not all perfectly in time with one another, it feels like the swarm of aimless souls that is the underworld in the odyssey, the aeneid, his dark materials... ('requiem aeternam donna eis domine')

'tis the evil day of exams tomorrow - where i have to be guarded over lunch so as to not pass on details of the physics synoptic paper to those who have not taken it in the morning. it's not as if that would be any use to them - no amount of information i could pass on would stop the paper being the most evil, difficult and suicidal paper in the known universe. i took a specimen paper today - i got a C. so here goes nothing...

I so had to stop myself from screaming 'Dr. Scott!' at the top of my voice. *high-fives*

Also, good luck in your exams.

The whole business with the credits = utter, utter excuse for me to see Shrek 2 at the cinema despite having seen it four times already. My DVD goes into the credits of something with 'evil snowboarders' in it after it's finished listing the main characters.

Hahaha Remus Lupin God of Sex

Also, I just realised your icon with Arwen, as well as being teh pretteh, has, like, meaning. PREEEETY.

At dinner? With the name-listing? I thought that it was Rocky-ish, but then I thought I was reading too much into things...

*blinks confusedly* Is that what we're talking about?

yes - my favourite icons are *always* the ones with image and lyric that don't .match., per se, but complement each other. rather like:

Yay. Today I tried to convince Sariah of the One True Way. She was confused.
