Mister Magister...?

My feelings on watching the "Christmas on BBC One" trailer:

0:11 - is that really Jonathan Creek?
0:18 - oh my god he's doing the voice it is Jonathan Creek!
0:36 - that is the Master. no-one puts on gloves like that except the Master.
0:48 - why is the person in the gorilla suit wearing a cyberman mask?

So, obviously, I have massive joy about the fact that the Doctor and Jonathan Creek both have new shows in the same calendar year, for the first time since 1996. (Let's all take a moment to consider curly-haired men. Ahh.) But do you know what's getting me the most?

The Master at 0:36.

I mean it clearly is. Beard and black leather like no other, right?

..right?

Is this like the experiment with the people passing basket balls because I didn't see any gorilla cybermen?

I promise you it's there! Just pause the video at 0:48.

Your icon looks a little like Rowan Atkinson.

...I still would.

48 was a Cyberman in a cloak driving a coach.

It *is* Blackadder.

Yeah but in my head it's the Master. In my head everything is the Master. Master Master Master.

Also, I'm sorry, but if that's a cloak it is a furry cloak, covering the whole body. Which is also visible when it bursts out of the cupboard in the teaser from Children in Need.

I think Wikipedia mentioned that the Christmas special would feature some sort of mutated Cyberman called a Cybershade. Maybe this is they.

Or maybe in the same way as there's a guy going around pretending to be the Doctor, there are other guys going round dressing in gorilla suits and masks pretending to be Cybermen, and the Doctor has stumbled on a freeform RPG gone wrong.

I think you've got it the wrong way round, my dear.

Ecclestone and Tennant have clearly been playing a screwed up alt-universe RPG for the last four years - "post-time-war" is like saying "post-apocalyptic"! - and Morrissey is the real Ninth Doctor, from the still-extant Gallifrey, where Romana is president.

This theory, and indeed the Master-spotting, entirely due to the combination of the following things:

- other people in my workplace being better geeks than me
- the judicious application of mulled wine

Wikipedia strikes again! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Next_Doctor)

Is it just me, or have they ripped "The One Doctor" with Christopher Biggins?

Not just you. If it weren't for The One Doctor, I'm not sure as many people would have jumped to the immediate conclusion that David Morrissey's character is a scam artist, either.
